Dear UCSI Supporters
The UCSI welcomes the addition of the Boston Farmers Association SNIPR camera mounted gantries to the UCSI network of 25+ gantries in the KZN Midlands, from Hilton through Howick to Karkloof, Lions River and Curry’s Post.
The UCSI, along with SAPS and affiliated security companies have recorded TWO wonderful success stories over the past fortnight.

Success #ONE
Details: Missing Person
When: 4 May 2020
Where: Howick, KZN
Outcome: Missing Person Found
An elderly gentleman went missing from the Howick area in the morning. His family were unable to get hold of him. The UCSI were contacted and immediately loaded the vehicle onto the SNIPR network. Late that afternoon the efforts paid off and the gentleman’s vehicle triggered one of the UCSI cameras coming back into the Howick area. Knight Security Solution’s (KSS) operations teams were dispatched and located the vehicle. The gentleman had become disorientated and unable to find his way home. Thankfully, a kind person had directed him back towards Howick where the UCSI cameras picked him up. The family were hugely appreciative of the UCSI, SAPS and KSS efforts.
Success #TWO
Details: Vehicle wanted for a crime committed
When: 6 May 2020
Where: Hilton, KZN
Outcome: Vehicle recovered by Hilton SAPS and SAPS Dog Unit in Pietermaritzburg.
The UCSI received a positive hit about a vehicle that was sought by Hilton SAPS. Hilton SAPS had requested the vehicle be listed with the UCSI earlier in the week. The UCSI immediately advised Hilton SAPS that the vehicle was in the area. They responded and managed to follow the vehicle down Town Hill into Pietermaritzburg. The SAPS Dog Unit were contacted and assisted Hilton SAPS. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and the vehicle impounded. The Hilton SAPS were hugely appreciative of the UCSI’s support and ability to feed through real-time information that resulted in this success.
Why the UCSI?
The role that the UCSI is playing in our community is invaluable. The support and monitoring offered to SAPS and Law Enforcement is critical in crime prevention. Affiliated security companies to the UCSI include Knight Security Solutions (KSS), Ballid Security and PMB Security.
